When I had started using and practicing using Premier Pro for the first time, it had felt very difficult at first. However, as I had started using more and practicing using clips to create a short clip, it was much more easy and straightforward for me. Using Premier Pro was a very new and complicated experience for me mainly being that I had never had any past experiences of using video editing apps before. Adobe itself is something that I'm familiar with, however I haven't actually used Adobe enough to say that I was a "pro". Also, when I was looking at the tutorials to understand the material, it was first a bit hard to get since there was many features that I had to know how to use.
During the very beginning of creating my clip, I had a hard time understanding what I was supposed to do when putting certain clips from my raw footage and create my short clip. At first, I felt that I had finished the clip quickly, but I had soon realized that I was creating my clip wrong once I had taken a closer look at what I was doing in my production process. I had noticed that my b-roll was misplaced and had to be reapplied into the row above the actual clips of the interviews so that the b-rolls could for a short moment overlay the interviews while having the audio of that interview still play. So, I had changed the layout of the clips so that it would be achieving the idea I had imagined for the beginning of the clip be a transition into the first interview of the manager of Pineapple Whip. I would use this same logic to the other b-rolls so that my entire short clip can smoothly transition into the next interview within my short clip.
Throughout my practice, I had some negatives which caused me to finish the practice for creating a short clip for 2 class periods. One of the downs that I had was when I was applying b-rolls to my clip to add a bit of transition between interviews of the manager and a customer and I had not fully comprehended how to make it so that the b-roll is applied properly to create a transition. There was also the time when I showed my "finished" clip to a partner and they had commented that I had made a couple of mistakes in my clip. One of those mistakes was not applying the b-roll correctly like I had said previously. Also, there others were smaller details such as not adding any background music for the duration of the interviews or transitions and not correctly using tools for the snippets of interviews or b-rolls.
Other than my past issues for the process of creating my short clip, I was relatively quick to finish my short clip when I was able to understand how to use some tools in Premier Pro when I was building my short clip. The learning curve was a bit slow for me when it came to knowing how to use the tools in the Premier Pro and are probably still tools as of right now that I still am learning how to use. Building off of this, I believe that I could use the knowledge I currently have of using the tools and materials of Premier Pro to be able to utilize in future projects and most likely learn any other tools that I still do not know how to use. I believe that now being able to utilize this useful tool, I can have a good option for when it comes to making a short film for my portfolio project in the future.
